RECORD STORE DAY 16 APRIL 2011 EXCLUSIVE IN STORE HAPPENINGS
TRUNK RECORDS EXCLUSIVE
On Record Store Day and exclusively at Intoxica! Jonny Trunk will be raffling a Trunk Records one-off vinyl LP.
The history of this one-off LP begins about 5 years ago when Jonny decided to press 29 copies of the Basil Kirchin soundtrack to The Shuttered Room onto vinyl. These 29 white label pressings were to be illustrated by Julian House, who is a fan of Kirchin and the film. However in all those years since the LPs were pressed, both Jonny and Julian have miserably failed to get together (apart from to get drunk) and have never actually sorted out the hand made artwork they have planned. These records will remain in the Trunk archive until both parties get their act together. That is, until now. On Record Store Day and only at Intoxica!, Jonny Trunk will be raffling one of these LPs. It will have it's own unique artwork, based on a stamp made from the film's logo. It will have it's own catalogue number, it will also have an insert explaining the history of the release. The sleeve will also be embossed with the Trunk logo. This small slab of 12" vinyl will stand alone as a one-off Trunk issue. As and when the remaining 28 copies get released, their artwork will be radically different.
The record will be only up for grabs via a raffle. To buy a ticket, come to Intoxica! on the Portobello Road between 10am and 2.30pm on Sat 16th April. Tickets will be £5 each and will not be available on line or over the phone. It's just on the day, in the shop, between 10am and 2.30pm, from Jonny. You won't have to wait until the raffle is drawn to find out if you win, as we will take names, addresses and phone numbers of anyone who buys a ticket. There will be 10 runners up who will recieve Trunk goodies, and all ticket buyers will get a free seven-inch single.
For Kirchin collectors, for soundtrack collectors and for Trunk collectors this will be a unique and desirable offering.

EXCLUSIVE IN STORE PERFORMANCE FROM VIV ALBERTINE
Intoxica! are very proud to present a very special appearance by punk rock legend Viv Albertine.
Viv was an original member of the hugely influential Slits, who were probably the most inventive of all of the first wave of punk bands - a veritable force of nature in which punk rock attitude collided with reggae rhythms in songs written with a feminist sensibility, laced together by Viv's inimitable spiky guitar playing, Tessa's loping bass lines and Ari Up's incredible voice. A stalwart of the 1977 London punk scene, Viv was taught to play by Keith Levene and also played with Sid Vicious and Palmolive in the short-lived but legendary Flowers Of Romance. She stopped playing guitar and became a film director after The Slits' break-up in 1982, finally dusting off her trusty Telecaster a year or so ago, writing and recording new material (the Flesh EP, released on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label is out now, an album is coming very soon), which she has been playing live around the world both as a solo act and with her band Limerence.
Viv will be playing a short set at about 4 pm.

See you there.
Pete Molinari in-store gig Sunday April 15th
We at Intoxica Records are very proud to announce that on Sunday 15th April
we will be hosting an exclusive in-store performance from the amazing Pete
Molinari!
Pete is an amazingly talented singer/songwriter who hails from Chatham, (what do they put in the water down there??), and was discovered by Billy Childish. He spent time in New York's Greenwich Village, playing the famous bars such as Café Wha!, perfecting his unique take on the folk/country/blues style, which lead to him being invited to join Bob Dylan on tour -not bad for a boy from Kent, I think you'll agree.
Pete will be dropping in to promote his new single, a double A side called "A Virtual Landslide/There She Still Remains", recorded at the legendary Toe Rag studios by Liam Watson (available in the shop) and will be playing a short acoustic set. The show starts at 5:00pm and really is not to be missed - the shop isn't massive, so arrive early to ensure entry
Check out his MySpace profile: www.myspace.com/petemolinari
where you'll find more info and be able to watch video clips and listen to
mp3s of his songs. You can also visit his website: www.petemolinari.co.uk
